Welcome to the webpage of Pamella Seay (pronounced "SEA" like the ocean!)Prof. Seay is a Founding Faculty Member and full professor at Florida Gulf Coast University where she teaches law-related courses including Comparative Justice, Globalization and the Rule of Law, International and Comparative Law, and Constitutional Law. Since 1998, Prof. Seay has led educational programs abroad, focusing on international law and environmental topics. As of August 2024, she is the Chair of the Justice Studies Department at FGCU.Professor Seay is a regular lecturer at national and international events and has presented papers in Lucerne, Switzerland; Florence, Italy; Stockholm, Sweden, Xian and Beijing, China; Thessaloniki and Rhodes, Greece; and Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; as well as many other sites in the US and around the world. Additionally, she participated in the Oxford Round Table at Oxford University in England and participated in the Stetson University College of Law's 10th International Wildlife Conference that took place in Granada, Spain. In 1996, she was elected to her first term on the Charlotte County Airport Authority where she was re-elected for 5 more four-year terms, finally concluding her service in 2020. Commissioner Seay previously served as the chair of the Charlotte County Punta Gorda Metropolitan Planning Organization. She is a past member of the board for the Charlotte Regional Medical Center in Punta Gorda, Florida and has served on the board of the Florida Radiological Institute.Prof. Seay is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law where she earned her J.D. At USC Law, she was a member of the Law Review and taught legal writing as a student instructor. While there, she earned the AmJur Book Award in Constitutional Law. In addition, she graduated Cum Laude from Stetson University College of Law with her LLM in International Law. At Stetson, she was a student editor for the Journal of International Wildlife Law and Policy.She earned a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and Advertising from the Kendall School of Design College of Art and Design, which is now a part of Ferris State University in Michigan. She has also completed the M.B.A. Certificate program from the Tulane University Freeman School of Business.She is an attorney, licensed to practice in Florida and South Carolina and is Florida Bar Board Certified in International Law. As an attorney, she continues to provide legal advice and consultation for foreign and domestic businesses on international legal issues and ethics. She served six years on the Florida Bar Professional Ethics Committee, and is a past chair of the Florida Bar International Law Certification Committee. Previously, she also served on the 20th Judicial Circuit Fee Grievance Committee for the Florida Bar. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the International Forum of Travel and Tourism Advocates, the International Legal Ethics Association, and several other legal and professional organizations.She has published numerous articles on a wide range of international topics and has published a book on international business in South Carolina. Her textbook on study abroad programs was published by National Social Science Press and is available on their website, http://www.nsspress.com. In early 2015, along with fellow attorneys John Adams Hodge and Kyle Seay, she published a book on Sovereign Immunity and Public Airport Operations through the National Transportation Board. Aside from the academic, political, and international aspects of her career, Prof. Seay is also an accomplished artist. Her work has appeared on book covers, hangs in many offices and homes, and has been featured in "Art in Public Places."
